If at first you don't succeed ... Quit?  NO, NO, NO - that's not how it goes.

If at first you don't succeed ... Try, try again!

Hope is the fuel that allows us to try, try again.  

Without hope ... I tend to quit.

Thankfully, Grisham didn't quit.

Somehow he kept his eye on the goal and his focus on the task.
